- Plains: flat areas of land without much change in elevation
- Basins: bowl-shaped areas of land that sink in.
- Plateaus: are wide areas of flat, elevated land that drop sharply on one or more sides. Plains cover most of the land in Texas.
- Salt marshes: areas of land overflowed by salt water.
